Johnny Depp - Johnny Depp Disappointed With Stunts

Johnny Depp was disappointed he didn't get to perform the fire-spitting stunt in his new movie.

The 48-year-old actor stars in 'The Rum Diary' - the big screen adaptation of the novel written by his close pal Hunter S. Thompson, who died in 2005 - and Johnny revealed he was quickly talked out of doing the dangerous stunt.

He told Shortlist magazine: "Well I thought I was going to do the fire-spitting, but everyone came over and said, 'No, no that's not happening. Not tonight Johnny.' I figured I could have done it."

While there was one stunt, Johnny did get to do himself he admitted he has mixed feelings about it as it involved driving a car down a series of steps while sitting on another man's lap.

He explained: "Driving down the steps in the car - that was very real.

"It was ugly though. Especially as I was being dry humped by a grown man while I was trying to steer."

Johnny convinced director Bruce Robinson to come out of retirement after 19 years to make the movie and revealed he was successful because he refused to take no for an answer.

He said: "I was a real pest. I just kept coming at him. I understand someone who makes that decision and says, 'I'm done with this cinema game and all those nasty bits that come with it' but Bruce was my dream for 'The Rum Diary' and he was Hunter's too."
