Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis reportedly had ''blazing arguments'' before they split.

The former model and aspiring singer is said to have resented her partner's successful career, causing huge tension in their relationship.

A friend told website UsMagazine.com: ''They'd have blazing fights. Vanessa would take her frustrations out on him. [Johnny, in turn], started to drink heavily.''

According to the source, 39-year-old Vanessa, pushed the actor to take up roles which went on the be a huge success, such as 2003's 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'.

The insider continued: ''Vanessa started to feel like she'd sacrificed her career for his.

''Nothing Johnny did was ever good enough for Vanessa. When he was working, she wasn't happy. And when he wasn't working, he was called a slob for not doing enough for the kids and her family.''

The two are parents to 13-year-old Lily-Rose and 10-year-old Jack and apparently always put their children's needs first.
