John Mayer Banned From Singing For Six Months

John Mayer has been ordered not to sing again for six months after undergoing throat surgery last week (ends02Sep12).

The rocker underwent an operation to remove a granuloma from his vocal cords last Monday (27Aug12) and is now recovering at home. The surgery comes nearly a year after he first went under the knife last October (11) in a bid to resolve ongoing problems with his voice.

Mayer's representative confirmed the news to CNN.com and the star has since opened up about his medical issues in a post on his Tumblr.com blog.

The musician reveals he has been ordered to rest his voice for several months and is banned from singing until next year (13).

He writes, "Well, here I am. Silent for the next few months, no singing for probably six, but all signs point to this being the last step in getting to perform again. Back to notebooks and iPad to communicate for the time being. Zen living at its finest... so if you see me out and about and I don't answer you when you say hello, I'm not ignoring you. Promise."

Mayer goes on to tell fans he will be keeping them up-to-date as he battles his latest health crisis, adding, "I'll try and post more on here, but I've gotten really good at keeping my thoughts to myself and I don't exactly see anybody starving for my take on things. But it might be fun to offer some kind of window into this very odd and slightly beautiful time...

"I know I'm not the only person hoping that six months from now they'll have a chance to do what they love so much, so good luck with your thing too."

What the hell are you talking about? 1. He has 7 grammys already. He didn't have music submitted this year and couldn't have performed anyway because of first operation, 2. He did not beat up a cabby, 3. he did not give intimate details, he simply said he was addicted sexually to Simpson, and he has only made very general and normal comments, not more than other celebs, 4. he is the first to say that his singing isn't his biggest strength but he is a solid and unique singer, 5. just because he grew his hair long like he has many times doesn't mean he is impersonating anyone, he doesn't need to, 6. Here is where you most particularly made a complete fool of yourself with your venom and lack of musical knowledge. Mayer has played with and been praised by the likes of Buddy Guy, Herbie Hanc**k, BB King, Eric Clapton, Elton John and many more and has been described by Rolling Stone as a guitar god just to name a few of many more accolades. Next time you're feeling miserable and jealous and you need to vent, maybe turn your irrational feelings towards, say someone who has actually done something wrong like that that guy who stabbed the 4 year old and/or go get some some exercise.

didnt see mayer at the grammys either!!! he wrote the song himself!!! my stupid mouth. after all the hype, he turned back into himself. he beats up a cabby, gives intimate stories to the press, without asking the parties involved if it was ok to tell all to the rags no less.after listening to his new album, not being able to sing, saves us all from kaka singing. dumo the johnny depp inpersonation, depp can sing and play the guitar 100times better.instant karma buddy. you have enough time to attempt something new, take advantage of it.
