John Lennon's Hat And Glasses Up For Auction
The singer donned the black hat on the Fab Four's 1965 tour of North America, while he wore the black Italian sunglasses in 1967.
Lennon later gave the accessories to his uncle Charlie, who sold them off to American collector Larry Warren.
Warren explains, "The cowboy hat was something that Lennon had on the U.S. tour in 1965 - I think they all had one. He gave it to his uncle in about 1967 along with a toy six-shooter gun because his uncle loved Western films. But the hat was too big for his uncle and that amused Lennon...
"I knew Charlie Lennon well and I bought these items from him. He didn't want to take any money for them but I insisted."
The cowboy hat is expected to fetch $12,800 (£8,000) at the Cameo Auctioneers sale in England on Tuesday (09Aug11). The glasses are estimated at $6,400 (£4,000).
