John Legend And The Roots Gig To Be Directed By Spike Lee

JOHN LEGEND AND THE ROOTS are set to get a live webcast of their upcoming concert directed by the Oscar winning filmmaker SPIKE LEE, reports The Epoch Times. The show, which will go ahead on Thursday 23rd September in New York, is the second part of the American Express sponsored 'Unstaged' series of gigs - the first concert was performed by ARCADE FIRE, and was directed by TERRY GILLIAM.
Speaking about the collaboration, 53-year-old Lee told the Associated Press, "It's not necessarily a Spike Lee joint. It's a John Legend and the Roots joint", before adding, "I like doing stuff live.we can't stop this concert.going to have to go with the flow." Lee's most recent project as a director was the documentary entitled, 'If God is Willing and da Creek Don't Rise' which explored the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, and the consequences of the BP oil spill.
Grammy Award winning artist JOHN LEGEND recently teamed up with the American hip-hop group THE ROOTS to record a collaborative album entitled 'Wake Up', which is set for release on September 21st. The album is inspired by the 2008 Presidential Election, which saw BARACK OBAMA defeat JOHN MCCAIN.
