John Galliano - John Galliano Fashion School Master Class Cancelled
Disgraced designer John Galliano's scheduled master class at a top New York City fashion school has been scrapped after he refused to be quizzed about the scandal which wrecked his career.
The fashion mogul lost his job as head designer at Christian Dior following an anti-Semitic rant at a couple during a night out in Paris in 2011.
He has recently started to rebuild his reputation by working for Oscar de la Renta on a temporary contract and he agreed to run a three-day workshop at Parsons The New School for Design for a series of sessions called Show Me Emotion.
Bosses at the college promised students would get the chance to have a "frank conversation" with Galliano on the "challenges and complications" of running a top fashion house, but they have now announced the course has been cancelled after the designer refused to take part in the forum.
An email from the college to students reads, "It was a condition of our agreeing to host Mr Galliano that we also hold a larger forum, which would include frank discussion of his career. Ultimately, an agreement could not be reached with Mr Galliano regarding the details of that forum, and so the program will not move forward. While we understand the pressures Mr Galliano faces, we expected to invite students, faculty and staff to ask Mr Galliano how his trajectory as a designer was changed by his offensive remarks and to learn from that example."
