The Doors - John Densmore Open To A The Doors Reunion - At Last

The Doors drummer John Densmore has opened up to the possibility of a reunion with bandmates Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger after feuding with the duo for years.

Densmore has rejected countless invitations to reteam with Krieger and Manzarek, who formed their own band The Doors of the 21st Century a decade ago, and even took them to court over the use of the group's moniker.

The drummer insisted that they should not be allowed to tour using The Doors' name and lawmakers agreed, forcing his ex-bandmates to change their name to Riders on the Storm - the title of a Doors hit.

Densmore has chronicled his battle to protect the legacy of late singer Jim Morrison in new book Unhinged, but now he admits he might be open to a future concert with his old bandmates.

He says, "The Doors are back on the hinges... I always say, 'If Jim showed up I'd be there in a New York minute,' but I'm thinking now, like, Pink Floyd had their struggles and they did Live Aid (Live 8) or something, so a one-off or a couple of benefits, that would make sense."

And he believes he's found the perfect Morrison stand-in in U.S. comedian Jimmy Fallon after appearing on his late-night chat show on Friday (03May13).

Densmore heaped praise on the host for his dead-on impression of Morrison on a recent show and suggested the comic could front The Doors.

And the pair gave fans a taste of what that might look like when Densmore joined Fallon's house band the Roots for a rendition of famous Doors concert-opener Roadhouse Blues with Fallon on vocals.
