John Cusack - John Cusack: filming The Paperboy was 'disgusting'
John Cusack has confessed he enjoyed filming the twisted erotic scenes in his new film 'The Paperboy' and stayed in character throughout.
John Cusack's method acting in 'The Paperboy' was ''disgusting'' and ''erotic''.
The actor plays a death row inmate in the controversial film - which also stars Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey - who shares sexual chemistry with Kidman's unhinged nymphomaniac character in the Lee Daniels-directed film, and the actors stayed in character for the entire shoot.
He told Total Film magazine: ''We just circled, stared, and growled at each other. And at the end of it we went, 'Hey, nice to meet you'. It was really that extreme.
''I'd never done anything that method-y in my career. It was dangerous, fun, weird, disgusting and erotic. I don't know what the hell that was, but I enjoyed it. I don't know what that says about me.''
The film's director says he didn't over-think some of the film's sexually charged content, including Nicole's character reaching a graphic orgasm and a scene where her character urinates on Zac after he gets stung by a jellyfish.
He said: ''One, she's protecting him. Two, she's tough as nails and no-one else is going to pee on this guy. All of that made total sense to me. I just went for it and didn't over-think it.''
