Joel Horowitz Joins Dvf Board

Joel Horowitz has been appointed co-chairman of the board at Diane Von Furstenberg.

The former Tommy Hilfiger CEO has come out of retirement to accept the position, which is effective immediately and has pledged to have an active role in the operations of The Fashion house.

He said: ''I made a decision a long time ago to avoid joining any boards unless I could be actually involved in the company. I've seen so many opportunities over the past few years, but none have shown as much potential or excited me as much as DVF. Diane and her team have created something incredibly special.''

The label's eponymous designer is equally delighted by the appointment.

She said: ''I'm very excited that we've been able to attract someone of Joel Horowitz's expertise and experience to join our company.

''We are now at the perfect stage for even greater worldwide growth.''

Diane and Joel will jointly oversee the board of directors, while Paula Sutter will continue to manage the day-to-day running of the business in her role as company president.

Joel is credited with launching Tommy Hilfiger Inc. with the designer himself in 1989. He then served as president, chief executive officer and executive chairman for the brand, before retiring in 2005.
