Joe Simpson Denies Dui Charge
Jessica Simpson's father has pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving under the influence (Dui).
Former minister Joe Simpson was arrested on 4 August (12) after he was stopped by police at a Dui checkpoint in Sherman Oaks, California.
He appeared in a Los Angeles court last month (Aug12) for an arraignment hearing, during which he was ordered to stay away from alcohol while he remained on bail, and he returned to the courtroom on Thursday (13Sep12) to officially enter his plea.
He is next due before a judge in October (12), according to Tmz.com.
If convicted, Joe faces up to year behind bars.
