Joe Pantoliano - Joe Pantoliano's Birthdays Have Been Sombre Since 9/11

The Memento star will turn 61 this year (12), but he prefers to keep the event low-key because he's still mourning the loss of three good friends who died in the U.S. tragedy.

He tells U.S. blog AllisonsWord.com, "I still have a hard time with it. Because I'm also (observing) the death of three people that I really cared about."

And Pantoliano admits he feels strange marking his birthday as he grows older.

He adds, "I think I've gotten to the point where I'm less narcissistic. It's one thing to celebrate the birth of a 10 year old or a 21 year old, but when you celebrate turning 50 or 60, you're just that much closer to your demise!"
