The Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off hitmaker first signed with Show Dog-Universal bosses in 2002 and since then he has released a total of eight albums with the company.

However, new dad Nichols has now put an end to their professional partnership.

In a series of posts on Twitter.com, he writes, "I'd like to thank ShowDog Universal for doing the right thing. I'm free!!!!! My plans are to make a record with people I trust and love and be at a happy home (label). Haven't feel (sic) this good about things in a long time...

"Just 2 (sic) be clear, I'm very thankful 4 (sic) showdog and what they have done 4 me. Our relationship has just reached its limits and I wish them luck".
