Michael Jackson's father has dropped his legal petition to receive a monthly allowance from his late son's estate.
Joe Jackson filed a claim for a monthly stipend of over $15,000 (£10,000) last November (09), claiming he had relied on the King of Pop's help to survive - because he had little income of his own.
In the legal documents, Joe Jackson stated he needed the cash to cover "maintenance expenses" and to "support his children or grandchildren".
His claim was opposed by the Thriller star's estate, with executors John Branca and John MCClain filing papers opposing the move.
The case was due to be heard in Los Angeles Superior Court but Joe appears to have had a change of heart and his lawyers have now withdrawn the claim for an estate allowance, reports TMZ.com.
Since the pop superstar's death a year ago (Jun09), Joe Jackson has launched his own music label, Ranch Records, with Chi-Lites star Marshall Thompson.
