Jodie Kidd Jives Off Strictly Come Dancingby Contributor | 24 November 2008
Model Jodie Kidd has become the latest contestant to leave the dancefloor on BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing.
The statuesque 30-year-old was sent packing from the show after a public vote left her facing a dance-off against Lisa Snowdon and partner Brendan Cole.
And though her jive performance with partner Ian Waite was described as "spectacular", Jodie became the 11th celebrity to leave the show.
Bruno Tonioli said the dance-off had led to "two amazing performances," but added: "One was brilliant, and that was Lisa and Brendan."
Following her exit, Jodie said she had been on the most "amazing journey" during her time on Strictly.
"I've had such a fabulous time," she said. "I've made some beautiful friends, it's been brilliant. I see Ian as my brother from another mother!"
Jodie's departure followed that of fan favourite John Sergeant who stepped down from the show citing the "real danger" that he could win the competition.
The 64-year-old political journalist had received huge public support each week, despite the judging panel repeatedly criticising his performances.
Issuing a statement, Sergeant revealed he wanted to "have fun on the show" and that it had been his intention to stay on "as long as possible".
"The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far," he explained.
Close to 50,000 people have signed an online petition calling for Sergeant to be restored to the competition. His dance partner Kristina Rihanoff claimed he had been "slowly broken by the judges' cruelty".
