Joaquin Phoenix, whose behaviour has grown increasingly more erratic in recent months, bought ''a velvet cape and mesh top'' during a recent shopping trip.
Joaquin Phoenix bought "a velvet cape and mesh top" during a recent shopping trip.
The 'Two Lovers' actor - who has reinvented himself as a rapper - shocked assistants in a Los Angeles store with his unusual choice of items, especially as he left wearing them.
A source said: "He was looking though the racks and finally grabbed a black velvet cape, black trousers and mesh top, ducked into a dressing room - and began belting out rap songs."
As soon as he emerged from the area, he strode up to pay for his new outfit.
The source added to National Enquirer magazine: "He mumbled madly while the girl counted out his change and offered him a bag for his own clothes. Joaquin never said a word, rushed out of the store wearing his velvet cape - and dumped his old clothes in the nearest trash can!"
