Joaquin Phoenix - Joaquin Phoenix Feared His Career Was Over After Mockumentary

22 October 2012

Joaquin Phoenix feared he had blown his career with his spoof documentary I'm Still Here as script offers dried up in the wake of the bizarre project.

The Walk the Line star fooled fans and critics in 2008 when he 'quit' Hollywood to launch a rap career, later admitting the stunt was an elaborate prank with his brother-in-law, fellow actor Casey Affleck.

But the Oscar-nominated star was so convincing in his new 'role' that A-list movie offers dried up following the highly-publicised project.

He tells British magazine Live, "There was definitely a period after I'm Still Here when there was a discernible difference in the quality of movies I was being offered...

"There was a moment in which, frankly, I was placed in a very dangerous place with my mortgage. I didn't know what to do. I was nervous because I didn't know what was going to happen. My accountant was very nervous."
