The Shooting Stars presenter, best known for his comedy partnership with Bob Mortimer, said: "I've won three Baftas and numerous other awards, but there comes a time in a man's life when he needs to look back and this is the best compliment," according to This Is North Scotland.
Chris Moyles, the self-proclaimed "saviour of Radio 1" was snubbed for the funniest radio show award, with the trophy going to his colleague Scott Mills.
The Mighty Boosh won the funniest TV programme award and Hot Fuzz followed its best comedy prize at the National Movie Awards with the funniest film gong at the ceremony.
Though he won three prizes last year, Russell Brand went unrewarded this year.
