Jimmy Page Hurt By London Olympics Snub
The guitar great represented the U.K. at the closing ceremony of the 2008 Games, and teamed up with singer Leona Lewis to perform Led Zep classic Whole Lotta Love beside a red double-decker bus to promote the next Olympics in London.
The performance was marred by sound issues, but Page admits he still expected to receive an invite to return to the Olympics stage when the tournament touched down in the U.K. - but the call never came.
He tells Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, "I'm feeling rather hurt. We put so much into Beijing, but weren't helped by the Chinese giving us next-to-no practice time."
Instead, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini and Stereophonics have been selected to represent the U.K.'s four nations at the opening ceremony on 27 July (12), while Blur, New Order and The Specials will close the Games on 12 August (12).
