Jimmy Fallon - Jimmy Fallon Confirms: 'I'm Not Gonna Do The 2013 Oscars'
Oscars speculation has started already. And we're not even talking about the movies this time. Sure, the films will always be the real star of the Oscars show but the other big talking point of any ceremony is the presenter of the awards. It's not clear who will be taking on the next Oscars in February 2013 but one thing we do know is that it won't be Jimmy Fallon. The US chat show host might find his show displaced for the evening, as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be broadcasting the evening's entertainment on Nbc - the usual network on which 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' is shown.
In a conversation with Matt Lauer for the Today show, Jimmy confirmed "I'm not gonna do the Oscars. I was honoured to be asked by the Academy, but it's not my year." His announcement comes after TheWrap reported last week that the Academy's exiting president, Tom Sherak had been in talks with Jimmy and his producer Lorne Michaels, regarding the hosting of next February's high profile ceremony. There has also been speculation over whether or not Fallon's show would make a switch to a different network on Oscars night.
It seems that a deal has not been reached and talks broke off before last week's presidential election for the Academy. The incoming president, Hawk Koch may well have designs on someone else to do the presenting; only time will tell.
