Jet Crash Hammond Signs Gbp2 Million Bbc Deal
British TV presenter RICHARD HAMMOND has signed a GBP2 million ($3.6 million) two-year deal with the BBC, just one month after suffering a severe brain injury in a 300 mile(483 kilometre)-per-hour jet car crash (20SEP06). The 36-year-old, nicknamed THE HAMSTER by co-hosts JEREMY CLARKSON and RICHARD MAY, was filming BBC motoring show TOP GEAR when the high speed accident happened. Recovering Hammond hopes to be behind the cameras as soon as possible, as do TV bosses. A BBC spokesperson says, "Richard Hammond has signed a two-year deal with the BBC. We are delighted." On 29 September, Hammond was discharged from Leeds General Infirmary in England to a private clinic near Bristol, which is closer to his wife and children.
