Jessica Simpson - Jessica Simpson Freaked Out By False Contractions

The singer, who is expecting her first child with fiance Eric Johnson, is due to give birth in the coming weeks.

And Simpson reveals she's quickly approaching the big day - she's already starting to experience Braxton Hicks contractions, which prepare the body for delivery.

She tells U.S. TV host Jay Leno, "You have these things called Braxton Hicks, which are these contractions that scare the living daylights out of you. So in the middle of the night, I'm like, 'Eric it's happening, it's happening!' But it's not supposed to happen yet, so you kind of freak out a little.

"But then I read the (parenting) blogs and it's like this happens to everybody. I'm like, 'Wow, labour is really gonna hurt.' Like I have so much respect for my mum and all the women across the world. This is a tough thing here."

However, The Dukes of Hazzard star insists she's doing the best she can to stay relaxed.

She adds, "I'm doing prenatal yoga. So it's more of a zen breath. I think that really (giving birth is) just about keeping yourself calm. And Eric is a very calm and patient person, so he'll be good to have in the delivery room."
