Jessica Ennis Is The Most Searched For Sports Person On the Web

Jessica Ennis has topped a poll of the most searched sports personality in the UK, according to Yahoo UK, who ran the survey.

The gold medal winning heptathlete battled off competition from all corners of the sports spectrum to climb to the top of the table, with Olympians, footballers and tennis stars succumbing to the second fiddle behind Sheffield's biggest star.

Behind Jess was Andy Murray at number two, with another British female Olympiad taking the number three spot: Victoria Pendleton. Two more London 2012 heroes made the list, with Tom Daley at number five and Jamaica's most famous (living) son Usain Bolt at number ten.

Maria Sharapova joined Murray as the only other tennis player on the list, taking the number eight spot - although we suspect her modelling ambitions and other extra-curricular activities owe to her success on the poll. The rest of the list was made up of footballers, with now-retired former Bolton player Fabrice Muamba the highest placed at number four. Lionel Messi was placed sixth, with David Beckham and christiano ronaldo finishing off the list, placing seventh and ninth respectively, and whilst the list may surprise a few people, seeing Messi above Ronaldo definitely wont.
