Jesse Eisenberg Once Received Cease And Desist Order From Woody Allen
The Social Network star has found success on the New York stage in his own play Asuncion, and Eisenberg reveals he once penned a script about the filmmaker and how he changed his name from Allen Stewart Konigsberg.
But the reaction to his work wasn't quite what he had expected.
During an appearance on U.S. programme The Late Show With David Letterman on Monday (31Oct11), he said, "The first kind of play I wrote was actually about Woody Allen changing his name to Woody Allen... I wrote the script and I sent it to an agent who was helping me out with my acting and they sent it to a friend, and it got to his lawyer.
"And my father came into my room one day and he was like, 'Well, I have really good news and kind of really bad news.' And I said, 'Oh really, what's the good news?' (He said), 'Er, they read your script.' And I was like, 'What's the bad news?' (And he said), 'We got a cease and desist letter from the lawyers.'"
But young Eisenberg didn't let the legal warning deter him from pursuing his dreams. He added, "I was so thrilled to have any kind of communication because up until that point I had nothing."
Ironically, the actor is set to star in Allen's upcoming film The Decameron.
