Jerry Seinfeld Salutes Regis Philbin
Jerry Seinfeld has labelled Regis Philbin the "gold standard" presenting.
Regis left hit US morning TV show 'Live! with Regis and Kelly' last week after 28 years and the comedian will be sitting alongside Kelly Ripa for a week while a new permanent presenter is found.
However, Jerry - star of hit US sitcom 'Seinfeld' - knows he has a lot to live up to.
He said: "When Regis does it, it doesn't seem that hard because he's the gold standard.
"He sits there and ... he just kind of takes up people's time. But you do it in a way that people say, 'I could take more of this.' "
Jerry also revealed how Regis, 80, had been considering leaving the show for the past 10 years.
He told talk show host David Letterman: "He didn't know when to end the show. The first time I had dinner with him like 10 years ago, he said, 'How many years do I have to do this? When is it going to be over?' And I told him never. These are Pope jobs."
