Jeremy Clarkson, "Im Sorry For Execution Comments"

Jeremy Clarkson has apologised in the wake of comments he made regarding the public sector strikes that occurred in the UK yesterday (November 30th), attempting to stem the outrage directed towards the TV presenter following what many believed were offensive and ill-timed sentiments. Speaking on Bbc family program 'The One Show' Clarkson had commented on those striking in protest over changes to their state pensions, saying "I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families. I mean, how dare they go on strike when they have these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living."

Following the news that they've received around 5000 complaints since the program aired live last night (November 30th), the Bbc have issued their own apology, saying "'The One Show' is a live topical programme which often reflects the day's talking points. Usually we get it right, but on this occasion we feel the item wasn't perfectly judged. The Bbc and Jeremy would like to apologise for any offence caused."

For a while today though it looked like the 51 year-old might be keeping quiet, however he too has now said sorry, a statement reading "I didn't for a moment intend these remarks to be taken seriously - as I believe is clear if they're seen in context. If the Bbc and I have caused any offence, I'm quite happy to apologise for it alongside them." The comments have infuriated many, with unionists seeking legal action against Clarkson.
