Patricia is survived by daughter Jennifer and her son, Dr. Todd Hewitt. She worked as a speech therapist and in 1989, moved from Texas to Los Angeles so that her daughter could pursue a career in show business; a move that clearly paid off, as Jennifer Love Hewitt became a household name with the breakthrough role of Sarah Reeves Merrin in 'Party of Five' and her cinema roles in movies such as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'.

Hewitt has always shown gratitude for the sacrifices that her mother made for her so that she could chase her dream. Earlier this year, she told Parade "I've tried not to act too crazy or disrespect the opportunities that I have been given or the people that have believed in me. I've been really blessed and I don't necessarily know what keeps one person here longer than somebody else, but I couldn't feel more grateful."
