Jennifer Lopez Sobs After James Durbin's Elimination

Jennifer Lopez sobbed when James Durbin became the latest contestant to be sent home on 'American Idol' last night (13.05.11).

The judge was clearly distraught by viewers' choice to vote off the 22-year-old rocker, leaving Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart in the final three.

James - who suffers from Tourettes syndrome and describes himself as a high-functioning autistic - was also in floods of tears upon hearing he was eliminated but said he was glad to have had the opportunity to introduce a different genre of music to the show.

He said: "I worked so damn hard and I was hoping to get there. But I did so much stuff that's never been done on the show.

"I did what I came here to do, and that was to give metal a chance."

Meanwhile, it was Haley's performance that failed to impress the judges, with Randy Jackson accusing her of "screaming" during her rendition of Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song'.
