Jennifer Lopez Joins American Idol In $12 Million Deal
JENNIFER LOPEZ has joined hit show 'American Idol' as a judge, in a one-year deal that will net her over $12 million, according to TMZ.com. Representatives from the Fox network have yet to make an official comment, but reports are suggesting that the 41-year-old has now signed the contract, and will join the singing contest when it returns in January. It is thought that Lopez will appear alongside RANDY JACKSON, and possibly AEROSMITH frontman STEVEN TYLER on the panel.
TMZ are currently reporting that the singer - whose hits include 'Jenny From The Block' and 'If You Had My Love' - didn't get the deal she originally wanted, but has agreed to a package of more than $12 million a year. Bosses at American Idol have been attempting to lure Lopez to the show for some time now, but back in August, People Magazine quoted a source as saying, "Her demands got out of hand. FOX had just had enough", however, it now appears that both sides have reached a compromise.
The judging line-up on the show has been in turmoil since SIMON COWELL and ELLEN DEGENERES departed, and Lopez will be juggling the role with other projects she's currently involved in, most notably, the recording of her new album 'Love?'
