Jennifer Lopez - Jennifer Lopez: 'I Didn't Have Postpartum Depression'

Jennifer Lopez has cleared up reports she suffered from post-partum depression after becoming a mother to twins in 2008, insisting she has been "misquoted" in the media.
The singer/actress had a momentary bout of what she calls the "baby blues" a week after her babies were born, but her comments led to media reports suggesting she was incapable of forging a bond with her son Max and daughter Emme following their birth, and the self-doubt sent her into a dark place.
She is quoted as telling Redbook magazine, "I remember after the babies were born, about seven to 10 days in, I was like, 'What is going on with me?' I felt sad and depressed and thought the babies didn't love me."
Now, Lopez has tackled the story, insisting she never meant to suggest she suffered from post-partum depression.
During a pre-taped interview with U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, she says, "I know I'm being misquoted in the press a lot. (They say that) I had depression when I had babies - none of that's true... I had what they called the baby blues, which is when your hormones drop and you get very emotional."
And Lopez is also baffled by rumours suggesting she's looking to adopt in the future after discussing her role as an adoptive mother in new movie What to Expect When You're Expecting - although she admits the film helped her to understand why others may choose that parenting route.
She adds, "I never really thought about adoption before this movie, ever. I just thought, 'I'm going to have my own kids.' I never thought about it as something I would do.
"After doing the role and holding these babies (her child is played by adopted twins), you can see how you can take a baby that you don't know and... you can give them a home and raise them as your own... Through the character I came to understand how people do it.
"So those are the two stories that people ran away with a little bit."
