Jennie Garth is more confident since her marriage ended.

While the former 'Beverly Hills 90210' star was devastated following the breakdown of her 16-year relationship with Peter Facinelli in March, she has lost about 20 pounds and is ''happier than ever''.

A friend told Us Weekly: ''She's happier than ever. She looks like the old Jennie!

''When you get sad, you either overeat or you become really healthy. Jennie's taking care of herself -she's taken control of her situation.

''Before, she used to be like, 'OK, let's cover me up'. And now she's more open-minded about having fun with her clothes. She's feeling good in her skin.''

Jennie - who has daughters Luca, 15 Lola, nine, and Fiona, five, with Peter - was spotted on a date with TV star Antonio Ballatore in Las Vegas in May but hasn't confirmed a new relationship.

She previously revealed the marriage split made her aware of just how much she loved the 'Twilight Saga' star Peter.

She said: ''It's weird and sad, but I really came to understand through this whole experience how much I loved him, how deeply I loved him and how deeply I loved us.''
