Jenna Talackova Removed From Miss Universe After Sex Change Discovery
Jenna Talackova, a 23 year-old curvaceous beauty queen, has been disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada competition after it emerged that she was not in fact born as a female. In a move that's been reacted to angrily by human rights protestors, the rules of the competition deem that entrants must be "naturally born," and thus according to them, Talackova has broken that ruling.
"She did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form," said a statement from Miss Universe Canada, reported by The Press Association. "We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best. After review, organisers discovered that Jenna Talackova falsified her application and did not meet the necessary requirements to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant."
It's unlikely to be the end of the matter however, Talackova - who had a sex change four years ago - is reportedly looking for a lawyer to take on the Donald Trump-owned organization. Despite the statement, Talackova hasn't exactly been shy about her history, in 2010 she competed in the Tiffany Miss International Queen Competition for trans-gendered and transsexual women. One trans-gender activist, Jamie Lee Hamilton, said "She was born with male genitalia and is being treated as a second-class citizen. Under the eyes of the law and the medical profession, she's a legal female"
