Jenna Louise Coleman Revealed As New Dr Who Sidekick
Jenna-louise Coleman has been confirmed as Dr. Who's new sidekick in the forthcoming series of the much loved BBC sci-fi drama, replacing Karen Gillan's fiery Amy Pond character. Coleman is a former soap actress, having starred in 'Emmerdale' whilst she's also appeared in 'Waterloo Road' and the four part mini-series 'Titantic.'
She joins one of the most established and best-loved series of the past half century, and confessed to the BBC "I am beyond excited. I can't wait to get cracking." The star auditioned for the role alongside the current Doctor Matt Smith, and commented "It was fun and I felt like we were in it together."
Smith has been a revelation since taking over the roll from David Tennant almost two years ago; many were concerned about his relative inexperience in acting but the 29 year-old has left critics' tongues wagging with his performances. Producer Stephen Moffat is excited to get the new recruit in front of the camera, saying "It always seems impossible when you start casting these parts, but when we saw Matt and Jenna together, we knew we had our girl. She's funny and clever and exactly mad enough to step on board the Tardis." Gillan leaves the show at the end of the next series.
