Jena Malone Offered Key Role In 'The Hunger Games' Sequel?
According to sources Malone has received the offer and is in early negotiations for the part. If this is the case, then it would appear to have ended rumours that Zoe Aggeliki was set for the role. In the story Mason was a previous Hunger Games winner from District 7, and she returns to the story to align with Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in their return to the arena for an all-star death match.
Malone's first leading role came in 2001's' cult classic 'Donnie Darko', following supporting roles in 'Contact' and 'Stepmom' in the 90s. Adding to her varied bow is a co-production credit on 2002's 'American Girl' when she was still only 18, as well as a music career featuring a record deal with New York label The Social Registry. She also appeared in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show 'Doubt'.
