Jeff Bridges Prefers Oscars Loser Status
The Big Lebowski star was nominated for four Oscars before he finally walked away with a statue for the musical drama Crazy Heart in 2009.
Bridges was nominated again the following year (10) for True Grit and missed out once more, but he's adamant he would rather be on the loser's list.
He tells CNN's Piers Morgan, "It's a relief. When they don't call your name, you're like, 'I don't have to get up now!' It's wonderful (to lose). I think I even said it, (winning) blows my under-appreciated status. That's a great place to be. That's the place you wanna be. For all kinds of reasons, it's nicer, to be not put on the spot of having to beat anything else."
But the actor admits he also enjoys the recognition, "It's wonderful to be acknowledged by your peers, by the guys who do what you do."
