Jean Dujardin - Jean Dujardin's Tap-dancing Lessons For The Artist

Jean Dujardin learned how to tap-dance for 'The Artist'.

The 39-year-old actor - who received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination yesterday (24.01.12) for his role in the silent movie - was thrilled to learn the new moves because he thinks dancing is a forgotten skill.

He said: "I learned to tap-dance for 'The Artist'. I love dancing in general, and making girls dance. My generation doesn't do it enough."

Although he is taking Hollywood by storm, with 'The Artist' also nominated in the Best Picture category, Jean claims he has no plans to leave his native France.

Asked if he will move to Los Angeles, he told America's GQ magazine: "Oh, no. I am too Parisian. And I think the French would be angry if I left. I hope they would be angry."

Jean Dujardin and 'The Artist' director Michel Hazanavicius are well known in France for their James Bond spoofs, the 'OSS 117' and Jean admitted he got his inspiration from Hollywood legend Paul Newman.

He explained: "I adore Newman. His elegance was so relaxed--chewing gum, opening his jacket, the tie hanging."
