Jean Dujardin Has No Plans To Move Stateside Despite 'The Artist' Success

Jean Dujardin has taken the critics by storm for his portrayal of a silent film actor in the French film 'The Artist,' and it was no surprise to see the actor at the forefront of the nominations as the Academy Awards nominees were revealed today, January 24th 2012.

Dujardin hasn't as yet commented on his nomination for Best Actor, which will see him come up against heavyweights George Clooney and Brad Pitt as well as Demian Bichir for his role in 'A Better Life' and Gary Oldman, but spoke to GQ a few weeks before, expressing his love of dancing and how it fitted perfectly into his role in 'The Artist.' "I learned to tap-dance for 'The Artist,'" he explained, adding "I love dancing in general, and making girls dance. My generation doesn't do it enough." Dujardin also praised 60s movie star Paul Newman, viewing him as a huge influence and saying "I adore Newman. His elegance was so relaxed-chewing gum, opening his jacket, the tie hanging."

With all this interest from the US now that 'The Artist' has made such an impact - the film was nominated in 10 Oscar categories, the second highest behind Martin Scorsese's 'Hugo' - he was also questioned about maybe moving over to the States eventually. However his answer was firmly in the negative as he stated "I am too Parisian. And I think the French would be angry if I left. I hope they would be angry."
