When asked what she thought of the show, Beyonce told reporters "it was amazing." The hip-hop star performed his New York-based hit 'Empire State of Mind', with Alicia Keys and his 10-piece band was complemented by a full 36 piece orchestra which Nyd's reporter says gave "fresh bounce" to his established hits, like '99 Problems.' He also played his new singe 'Glory' about his daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Jay Z has recently stated that he would stop using the word 'bitch' in songs, following the birth of his daughter but it's unclear whether he edited '99 Problems' to omit the offensive word.
After the show, Jay Z and Beyonce attended the after-party at the 40/40 club, where they, along with the rapper Nas, were ushered upstairs to the Vip section. According to the report, Jay Z was "snacking on celery and champagne" at the club and "threw his arms around his bride" when she greeted him in the centre of the club.
