Jay Z - Jay Z Holds Private 'Watch The Throne' Listening Session
Jay Z has held a private listening session of 'Watch the Throne', his hugely-anticipated collaborative album with Kanye West. Jay Z invited a handful of music journalists to the Mercer Hotel in New York on Thursday (7th June 2011) where he played eleven songs from an Apple laptop, reports Billboard.com.
Following the listening session, the rapper invited all those present to have an informal conversation about the record that lasted for about an hour, telling journalists, "We can have a conversation. I don't want to do an interview. Put your pads away - we can talk all night". The Def Jam Ceo then played clips of three other songs, one of which featured Swizz Beats, but did not confirm they would feature on 'Watch the Throne'. Although the album is available to pre-order, there is no official release date, and when quizzed on the matter Jay Z simply confirmed the record would be available "soon". Kanye West, who was the first to announce the album via his Twitter page last summer, was not present for the playback.
Jay Z recently travelled to the UK's Glastonbury Festival where his wife Beyonce performed to a reported 70,000 people. The rapper had made a well-publicised headline appearance at the festival in 2008. The couple were also spotted supporting friend Chris Martin, whose band Coldplay headlined the Pyramid stage on Saturday.
