Jason Derulo - Jason Derulo's Musical Reinvention After Neck Fracture
Singer Jason Derulo has promised fans his new material will mark a "total reinvention" of his music because his songwriting has dramatically changed direction since he fractured his neck.
The Whatcha Say hitmaker fell on his head while practising a high-energy dance routine for a show in January (12) and doctors discovered he had fractured a vertebrae.
He was ordered to take time out from his career and is currently sporting a neck brace, but the star admits he couldn't resist getting back to work in the recording studio.
Derulo also reveals the accident has given him a new outlook on life, which has helped to completely change his musical style.
He tells Britain's Daily Star, "Since my accident I've been in the studio. I probably got in too soon which wasn't the healthiest thing to do, but I have been so inspired by everything that's happened.
"The material has been coming out a little different as I realised what actually matters in life. It's a total eyeopener. The world got to slow down for a second, which is also really cool, plus I got the chance to spend time with my family and loved ones, which matters the most.
"This is going to be a total reinvention and people will be really surprised. It's a total flip. I'm also trying to think of what to do with my look as I definitely want to change it up a little bit, maybe add some colour to my life."
