Jamie Foxx is writing a movie version of 70s US comedy 'Laverne and Shirley'.
The 42-year-old actor is creating a big screen version of the TV series with his 'Valentine's Day' co-stars Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner.
Garry Marshall, who directed the romantic comedy, has revealed he is also working on the new project with Jamie.
He told TV Guide magazine: "Jamie and I are trying to do it. He's writing it. It's a whole different modern take on how they came up on the streets during difficult times.
"Laverne would be this very tough girl with a big 'L' tattooed on her arm. Jennifer Garner would play Laverne and Jessica Biel would play Shirley."
The original comedy - which ran from 1976 to 1983 - featured Penny Marshall as Laverne and Cindy Williams as Shirley and was nominated for six Golden Globe awards. It was a spin-off from the hugely successful 'Happy Days', as the two lead characters were originally introduced on that show as acquaintances of Fonzie - who was played by Henry Winkler in 'Happy Days'.
Jamie has a number of projects coming up including comedy movie 'Due Date' with Robert Downey Jr. and Juliette Lewis and action thriller 'Kane and Lynch' alongside Bruce Willis.
