James Morrison Back To Basics On New Album
James Morrison "tried to forget" some of the things he'd learned about making music for his third album.
The 'Broken Strings' hitmaker has recently completed recording on his third album, and wanted it to be a return to his Roots and not produce something too over-commercial.
Speaking at the Sony Radio Academy Awards, he told BANG Showbiz: "It's my favourite piece of work so far, I tried to forget what I'd learned before and do what I wanted to do in the first place, but I didn't have any experience to do. So I made an album that felt real and not over-commercial and trying to just write good songs."
"I worked with Bernard Butler, he's an amazing guy and he plays amazing guitar. We worked side by side on the album, I took him the songs and played them to him and we built the tracks together. He's a great producer, really knows how to listen to things and pick out certain detail in tracks."
James' as-yet-untitled follow up to 2008's 'Songs for you, Truths for Me' album will be released later this summer.
