James Denton Stunned By Sheridan's Accusations

Desperate Housewives star James Denton was stunned when former co-star Nicollette Sheridan accused show producers and creator MARC CHERRY of wrongful termination - because he thought her departure was amicable.

Sheridan's character, Edie Britt, was killed off in 2009 - she died from electrocution after stepping into a puddle following a Wisteria Lane car crash.

A year after her departure, the actress filed a lawsuit against Desperate Housewives bosses, claiming she had been fired for complaining about an incident during which Cherry allegedly hit her on-set.

The case went to trial two weeks ago and a verdict is expected soon.

Denton, who was the only cast member to testify in court, admits he still can't believe Sheridan's departure was not on friendly terms.

He says, "At the time it didn't seem that out of the ordinary. People were dying right and left and I thought it was very funny that she (Britt) survived the crash and then stepped in the water and got electrocuted... and I thought she did to.

"When she shot it she was such a trooper. I mean, she came in and did it and was very enthusiastic and funny as always and she was a great sport about it."

And Denton's co-star Doug Savant is keen for the case to be resolved, so fans can focus on the upcoming finale of the show.

He tells E! Online, "I'm surprised at what a media event it is. We're all anxious to get it behind us because all the press has been about that and not about the end of the show. I'd really like to get the focus back on the end of a great eight-year run."

Prior to closing arguments in the case earlier this week (beg12Mar12), Sheridan's charges of battery against Cherry were dismissed.

The jury began deliberations into the wrongful termination charge on Wednesday (14Mar12).
