The Artist - James Cromwell Backs Anti-violence Campaign

The Artist star James Cromwell is urging his fans to help stamp out animal cruelty by informing authorities about pet abuse.

The Oscar-nominated actor has shot a promo clip for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) to support the organisation's drive to clamp down on violence towards animals, which is believed to indicate psychotic tendencies.

In the clip, he says, "People who commit violent acts often start out by hurting animals. If you know of someone who's abusing or neglecting an animal, don't ignore it or just assume that someone else will do something. Call the police. And if you have kids or grandkids, please talk to them about the importance of being kind to animals. That conversation might save a life. Let's stop the cycle of violence before it begins."
