James Corden - James Corden Injures Wrist On Broadway

The comedian has won high praise for his performance and even landed a prestigious Tony Award after the production transferred from London's West End to New York, but literally beating himself up onstage night after night has taken its toll on the star.

The New York Times reports Corden suffered the minor injury as a result of the physically-demanding role, which sees him bump and slam himself into objects, take tumbles and smack himself in the head with a trash can lid.

However, Corden refuses to complain and the play's physical comedy director Cal MCCrystal has praised him for his endurance and dedication to the show.

MCCrystal tells the publication, "For someone who has done so much television work there's a really surprising fearlessness about James. Usually they are scared to throw themselves about, and I think that when he read the script, it was probably, 'Crikey, this is a big ask.'"

And the funnyman has made a huge physical transformation too. MCCrystal adds: "He got a personal fitness trainer and even though he was very overweight when he started, he worked his fitness up, lost 70 pounds and was very well prepared."
