James Cameron Advised Arnold On Terminator 5

James Cameron told Arnold Schwarzenegger not to do another 'Terminator' film until it focuses on his character.

The 'Titanic' director - who wrote and helmed the first two movies in the franchise - advised the 64-year-old actor to avoid starring in a fifth 'Terminator' production unless it concentrates on the T-800 character he portrayed in the first two films.

He told MTV News: ''I was talking to him back in fall about a new 'Terminator' film and quietly advising on that, I suppose you could say.

''I was trying to be as encouraging as possible. Frankly, at that time, I thought it needed to be more about him.

''I told him he should not do it until it's focused on his character or he shouldn't do it. I think there are some great stories that can be told about that character that haven't even been thought of yet.''

James admitted he thought the previous movies in the franchise ''needed'' to focus more on Arnold's alter-ego.

He added: ''I was trying to be as encouraging as possible. Frankly, at that time, I thought it needed to be more about him.''

'Fast Five' director Justin Lin was originally attached to helm a fifth 'Terminator' movie, but he dropped out last September so it is unknown where the project currently stands.
