James Blunt has urged people to "reward" public servants with sex.

The 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker - who has dated model Petra Nemcova and British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson - insists no one should aspire to sleep with a famous person, because they are not necessarily good in bed, and there are others more deserving of affection.

He said: "Just because someone is famous it doesn't mean they will be a great s**g.

"Aid workers, teachers, doctors, nurses, the military - people who save lives are who you should aim to sleep with. Think of it as a reward for what they do for the world."

The former soldier also spoke of his closeness to Sir Elton John - but insisted he has no desire to sleep with the musical legend.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I have never slept with Elton but he's sort of my uber-manager.

"His management team look after me and I have gone out on the road with Elton. He's a generous, kind man."

The 37-year-old singer has previously admitted that he considers sex an "important" aspect of his life.

He said: "Sex is as important to me as it is to the next man."

And although he has enjoyed the company of many beautiful women he hopes he will one day settle with The One because he envies his loved-up friends.

He said: "The happiest friends I know are in close-knit relationships with children who make them smile."
