Jake Shears' Responsible Partying

Jake Shears thinks people should have as much sex and use as many drugs as they want.

The Scissor Sisters singer spent time in Berlin, Germany after taking a break from the band - also consisting of Babydaddy, Ana Matronic, Del Marquis and Randy Real - to clear his head, relax and go on some "crazy" nights out but insists he shouldn't have to apologise or make excuses for his behaviour.

He said: "I saw some crazy s**t. it was actually really great to see. There were moments where I was like, 'Thank God this is going on somewhere.'

"People indulging in what they want to be doing without anyone making them feel bad about it. There's a space for it and that's great. That's how it should be.

"You don't have cops lurking at every corner. People having responsibility and doing what they want to be doing. I really believe in that. I love that Berliners Take That very seriously. That goes with sex and drug use and all of the above."

When he eventually came back, Jake was inspired by his time away to write the pop band's latest LP 'Night Work'.

He explained to Attitude magazine: "There would just be these moments in Berlin where I'd look around and feel really timeless, I couldn't tell what time period we were in. it got me thinking about New York in the 70s and going into the 80s. The freedom that was happening and the liberation and the sexuality and the drugs and the intensity of the hedonism and the music and where it was going and where it was being pushed and the partying and all the progressive things about that time period. It just got my brain going."
