Jake Gyllenhaal Buys Taylor Swift $11,000 Guitar

Jake Gyllenhaal, the 30-year-old American actor, bought his new girlfriend Taylor Swift an $11,000 guitar for her 21st birthday, according to the US Weekly. Gyllenhaal and the country music singer recently went public with their relationship and were snapped last week taking a leisurely stroll in New York.

Swift celebrates her milestone birthday today (20th December 2010) and the actor surprised her with a vintage Gretsch guitar signed by the country music legend CHET ATKINS. Atkins is an influential figure in country music and helped shape what is now known as the 'Nashville Sound'. A guitarist and record producer, he is synonymous with the hollow-body Gretsch guitar, and Swift reportedly became enthused by the instrument after a recent trip to Nashville. The couple have only been dating since October, however, earlier this week Swift was introduced to the Gyllenhaal's sister Maggie Gyllenhaal as well as her four-year-old daughter 'Ramona'.

An insider close to the couple said, "Taylor is smitten. She loves how nice and affectionate he is. Jake likes that Taylor is sweet, low-key and very easy to be around". Gyllenhaal is currently promoting his new movie 'Love and Other Drugs', which also stars ANNE HATHAWAY.
