Dmx - Jailed Dmx Offered A Record Deal By Ross
Incarcerated rapper Dmx is set to leave prison with a potential new record deal, thanks to hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross.
In an interview with Vibe magazine from behind bars, the Party Up hitmaker has revealed he will be a free man in less than a month after serving more than six months of a year-long sentence for violating his probation.
And he'll be coming out with the determination to become a hip-hop icon again after being offered a new deal with Ross' Maybach Music Group.
Dmx, real name Earl Simmons, explains, "I have respect for him and he expressed interest that he wanted to work with me while I was out. I definitely want to do a song with him, but I don't know about the record label thing."
And the rapper plans to hit the album charts upon his release from prison, insisting his star-studded seventh studio release, Redemption of the Beast, is a few tracks short of hitting stores and the Internet. He started work on the project last year (10), before he started his latest prison stint.
He adds, "Swizz (Beatz) did the single. I got Sean Kingston on the (producer) Scott Storch record. Of course I got a little Lox on there... I got Tyrese on a couple of joints."
And, upon his release next month (Jul11), Dmx insists he's keen to put the past few years of legal problems, arrests and convictions behind him: "The last few times I couldn't wait to get out and go have a drink. Now, I'm in a frame of mind where I'm like, 'Right into the studio and get my grind on.'"
