Jackson's Goddaughter Thought Death Was A Prank

MICHAEL JACKSON's goddaughter, LUCY LESTER, was convinced the King of Pop was playing a prank on the world when his death was announced.

The 17-year-old daughter of Jackson's longterm friend, former child star Mark Lester, watched the news unfold about the pop star's death on TV last month (Jun09), and she found herself thinking the whole thing was a hoax.

Lester admits she expected her godfather to call her and laugh about the joke.

She says, "I was sitting on my own watching TV when I heard the news. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. I thought it was a joke and that any minute Michael - who regularly called me - would phone up in stitches over his elaborate trick."

She admits the truth sank in when she saw the King of Pop's brother Jermaine reading out a statement confirming the shock death.

Her father was among the first celebrities to pay tribute to Jackson.
